Misfortune overtook the Davis family in several ways. Son, Randy’s contract working for a construction company ended and then he became ill.
What seemed like flu receded, but nausea remained. After blood tests, Randy was admitted to Tygerberg Hospital. Randy’s kidneys were failing, and because of a heart condition, he didn’t qualify for dialysis.
Thinking that Hospice was only for Cancer patients, it took some time for the Davis family to contact us. Randy’s dad, Terrence, left his job to take care of Randy, meaning that his mom’s part-time work and the grant for her hearing disability provided the only income.
Whilst it’s terribly sad to lose a young person with hopes and dreams for the future, with your help, we were privileged to support this family through the time that Randy had left.
