Living to the end: Palliative Care for an Ageing Population

World Hospice and Palliative Care Day is a unified day of action to celebrate and support hospice and palliative care around the world. The Day will take place on the 13th October and aims to:
share our vision to increase the availability of hospice and palliative care thorughout the world by creating opportunities to speak out about the issues
raise awareness and understanding of the needs – medical, social, practical, spiritual of people living with a life limiting illness and their families
raise funds to support and develop hospice and palliative care services around the world.
Helderberg Hospice is very privileged to have been asked by the Hospice Palliative Care Association of South Africa to host the national event to mark this day. This will take place on Tuesday 16 October 2012, 10h00 – 12h00, at the United Church, Bright Street, Somerset West. Theuns Botha, MEC for Health, is the keynote speaker at the event and Dr Liz Gwyther, CEO of HPCA, will give an overview of the celebration of this day worldwide.
