Ricky and his father, Pieter, at Helderberg Hospice

Joy is one of those amazing ladies who provides round-the-clock, unconditional care to her 76-year-old husband Pieter, who is a Cancer and Stroke patient, and their son Ricky, who has Multiple Sclerosis.

Joy cares for them with a loving heart. But if you’ve ever cared for a loved one with an incurable illness, you’ll know how exhausting it is, and having two sick family members under one roof is even more stressful.

That’s why we’re hoping you’ll click here now to send your special Christmas gift to Helderberg Hospice.

We will use your gift to give more patients like Pieter and Ricky a well-deserved break in our 24-Hour Support Centre. The centre is peaceful and homely, and our patients receive nourishing meals, medical care, counselling and spiritual care, and a place to be heard.

Your gift will also give caregivers like Joy desperately-needed ‘time out’ to help them to recharge their batteries.

“Ricky needs constant care. He almost choked to death in June. It’s the most horrible thing to experience. So it’s really nice when mom and I can get a bit of respite,” says his sister, Tracey.

You can see how much your gift – made securely online by clicking here – will mean to patients and families like this.

Pieter and Ricky spent two weeks in the Support Centre for Respite Care three times this year. They shared a room with a garden view, soaked up the sun and met new people whilst their every need was addressed.

“Helderberg Hospice means everything to ‘Dad’ and Ricky. Everyone is kind and caring. It’s like a holiday for them,” Tracey says.

They’d love to visit us again next year.  And with your support, they can!

The respite care they receive costs R1 851 a day – and any contribution you make is deeply appreciated.

So please click here and give selfless caregivers like Joy and their loved ones a break this festive season. Thank you!
